About the game
South Korea started pressing Colombia and finished a few times, but did not score. Colombia returned in some counterattacks, but also failed to open the scoring. The first goal of the match only came in the 29th minute of the first half: after pressure from the Colombians inside the opponents’ area, the South Korean defender Shim Seo-Yeon ended up touching the ball with her hand and a penalty was signaled to Colombia. At the kick, Usme hit well and opened the scoring for the Colombian team.
About ten minutes later, Colombia managed to expand the scoreboard. Caicedo, a young Colombian striker, started on the left side, cut to the middle and hit well; South Korean goalkeeper Yoon Young-Geul ended up failing at the time of defense and the ball went to the back of the net.
In stoppage time in the first half, South Korean striker Choi Yu-Ri advanced down the left side, entered the area and crossed for Lee Geum-Min, who headed the goal; Colombian goalkeeper Catalina Pérez jumped and made a great save to prevent South Korea’s goal. The first half ended moments later and the teams went to the locker room with Colombia winning 2-0.
Colombia came back for the second half at the same pace. Throughout the second half, the Colombian team sought to expand the scoreboard, but ended up losing the opportunities it created. South Korea failed to impose itself during the second stage, did not create new chances and ended up losing by 2-0. Check out the highlights of the match below.
