These are the phrases we read on the page of the ballroom ‘hair stylist’ John Barrett, located in New York.

We couldn’t expect anything different from the professional who takes care of the locks of names like Beyoncé and Victoria Beckham.

As if these names weren’t enough for the hairdresser’s fame, Barrett still has Princess Diana’s name on her resume.

John was responsible for taking care of the princess’s hair when she was in New York on a few occasions. And he told a little about his experiences.

About the first encounter with royalty, John recalls: “I was so nervous. I got to her suite and she was sitting on her bed looking at pictures of my assistant’s kids. The conversation was easy

John still remembers that the princess made him feel free to do what he liked with her hair. But even so, he didn’t feel completely comfortable with it: “With someone like that, if I did something bad or wrong, it would be visible to the whole world.”

Barrett also talked about the princess’ laid-back side. He remembers a time when she received letters from ‘crazy people’: “She was reading the letters and we were laughing. There was one from a plastic surgeon (…) saying: ‘I would like to consult you’. We laughed about it”, says the professional.

In this statement, the professional only confirms what the whole world already knew, that Diana was not only an example of elegance and discretion, but also showed herself to be a humble person with everyone around her.

For this reason, and for many others, Diana became known as the ‘Princess of the people’.
