Dudamel as music director

On the 16th, the Opera House in Paris announced that it has appointed Gustavo (40), a star conductor from Venezuela, South America, as the next music director. The term of office is 6 years from August 1st. He will replace the Swiss conductor Philippe Jordan.

　”I’m thrilled and grateful. I didn’t hesitate to accept it for a second,” Dudamel said at an online press conference. “I feel a deep responsibility for the future of our art,” he said, as the music world continues to struggle with the new Corona epidemic.

　Gustavo is a world-class conductor from El Sistema, a program where you can learn music for free regardless of the financial situation of your family.
