Four-story building collapses in Marseille, France

Early this Sunday (9), a four-story building collapsed in central Marseille, France. The cause of the collapse is still being investigated by local experts. But locals said there was an explosion before the building collapsed. Six people were injured and five others are hospitalized in serious condition.

According to firefighters, two more neighboring buildings were hit by the rubble and one of them has already collapsed. Residents of the regions have already received orders to evacuate the site. The Fire Department still does not have information about the number of people who were inside the building that collapsed. According to the mayor, Benoît Payan, a fire is raging inside the rubble and this prevents them from sending dogs and teams in search of possible victims.

About 11 people left the scene unharmed, including two children. In the morning, a neighboring residence also collapsed, no one was injured inside the property, as it had already been evacuated.

According to local authorities, the building had been recently renovated and did not pose a risk, nor did the neighboring piece of furniture, which also collapsed, on the same street. Video released on social media shows the damage caused at the scene.
