Singer Dolly Parton, aged 77, is already discussing how she will continue the final stretch of her career, revealing that retirement is not an option. According to the owner of the hits “Jolene” and “9 to 5”, she prefers much more “drop dead in the middle of a song on stage” than to retire.

“I have no power of choice, but this is how I hope to leave. For now, I will enjoy”, said the singer.

In an interview with Greatest Hits Rádio, presented by Ken Bruce (via NME), the singer shared how she wants to have her final moments in her career: “I would never retire! I hope to drop dead mid-song on stage one day – and hopefully one I wrote,” said Parton.

That's how I hope to go. I don't have much of a choice in this, but in the meantime I'll make hay while the sun shines,” continued Parton. After ruling out retirement, Dolly reports that she stopped doing big tours and shows with many dates. Currently the singer prefers shows with few appearances “specials” rather than performing an endless stream of live performances.

Parton will no longer tour, but will hold shows as a long weekend. Regarding tours, the singer thinks that the endless shows are behind her.

However, to comfort her fans, Dolly explained that the days of going on long tours are over, but for those who still like to enjoy the singer's shows, some concerts will still be held.

The singer explains: “You have to tour for a long time for it to be profitable, and at my age that's a lot. I don't have time to waste.” Dolly commented that she will continue with special concerts, some here and there, and will also continue with festival concerts.
