In a new trailer, Jake Gyllenhaal leaves fans excited for “Silent Man”

This Thursday morning (25), Prime Video released the new trailer for “Matador de Aluguel”, which features an energetic Jake Gyllenhaal as the main character. The production is a remake of the 1986 film, which tells the story of a frustrated philosophy student (played by Patrick Swayze) who leads a life as a successful bodyguard.

In the new version, however, Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC fighter, who is hired to be security for a project located in the Florida Keys archipelago. There, he discovers that, in fact, the place is much less peaceful and paradisiacal than he imagined.

Star cast

In “Matador de Aluguel”, Gyllenhaal stars alongside Billy Magnussem (“007 – No Time to Die”), Lukas Gage (“The White Lotus”), Arturo Castro (“Broad City”) and Daniela Melchior (“Suicide Squad”) . The direction is by Doug Liman (“Edge of Tomorrow” and “Bourne Identity”) and the script is written by Anthony Bagarozzi (“Two Nice Guys”) and Charles Mondry (“Doc Savage”).

Director boycott

In a recent interview with Deadline, the film's director, Doug Liman, declared a boycott of the production's premiere. The reason, according to Liman, is the fact that Amazon, the distributor responsible for the film, did not take the production to theaters, leaving it restricted to exhibition only through its streaming service, Prime Video.

“Amazon asked me and the film community to trust them and their public statements about supporting movie theaters, and then they turned their backs on us and are using 'Rental Killer' to sell plumbing,” stated Liman.

The director also said that he has no problems with “streaming films”, having already worked on exclusive productions for the format, but states that Amazon should fulfill the previous agreement to release the film on the big screen and that he fears that, in the future, Attitudes like this could become a trend for viewers of other films.

“Matador de Aluguel” premieres on March 21.
