The semi-final of the Saudi Super Cup this Monday (08) ended with the expulsion of Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of the game and complaints from Al-Nassr's coach, the Portuguese Luís Castro, against the refereeing. The coach found the red card given to CR7 in the 85th minute of the game unfair, after a dispute with the opposing defender, Al-Bulayhi. Al-Hilal won the match 2-1, maintained their historic run and will play in the final of the tournament.

Luís Castro speaks out

In the press conference after the match, Al-Nassr coach Luís Castro railed against the refereeing of the match when he stated that he watched the expulsion from different angles and did not see a physical touch from Cristiano Ronaldo on the opposing defender and ended by saying that the opposing athlete made great theater.

In the second half and with his team losing 2-0, towards the end of the game in the 85th minute, CR7 tried to make a quick throw-in to catch the opposing team's defense by surprise, he was prevented by Al-Hilal's defender, Al-Bulayhi to do it quickly. Irritated, the attacker moved the defender slightly and threatened aggression. The match referee raised the straight red card without issuing a second yellow card. Upon leaving the field, Cristiano asked the fans to ironically applaud the referee.

AL-Nassr still declined

Even with one man down, Al-Nassr managed to pull one back with a goal from Senegalese Sadio Mané and the match ended 2-1 for coach Jorge Jesus' Al-Hilal. Despite the goal, the elimination was confirmed. The CR7 team now only has the Saudi Championship left until the end of the season.

In the Saudi league, Al-Nassr is in second place, behind rival Al-Hilal and has a remote chance of winning the title. Cristiano Ronaldo is still looking to achieve individual records in the tournament, such as the maximum goalscorer in one edition and becoming the first player to be the top scorer in four different tournaments around the world. This year, counting all the competitions he participated in, there are 42 goals and 12 assists in 43 games.
