The French police on Wednesday arrested a suspect for the notorious mistreatment of Paris Saint-Germain football star Kheira Hamraoui, reports the office of the prosecutor in Versailles.

A source close to the investigation reports to news agency AFP that the suspect, an adult man, was “known to the police” and was “a friend” of Aminata Diallo, a teammate of Hamraoui. He would have “played a role in the attack”.
Diallo and Hamraoui, competitors of each other in midfield at PSG, sat together in a car in Paris after a party on November 4 last year. Two masked men stopped the vehicle and pulled Hamraoui out of the car, and then hit her on the legs with iron bars.

Diallo was arrested earlier in the investigation for possible involvement, but was then released without charge.
“We are not aware that a friend of Diallo’s has been taken into custody,” Diallo’s lawyer said. “Aminata wants the truth to come out in this case more than anyone else.”
The relationship between Hamraoui and her teammates has deteriorated since the incident in November.
The 32-year-old Frenchwoman was last Saturday from the selection at PSG after an altercation with a number of teammates at a training. She is not training with the club this week.
