Minister of Health warns of the intensification of the vaccine in the fight against Covid-19

the minister of health Nísia Trindade announced, on a national network (Radio and TV), that it is important to intensify vaccination against Covid-19 and its variants, even if the World Health Organization (WHO) no longer consider the disease a case of global health emergency. In a statement aired on Sunday (7), the minister also lamented the deaths that could have been avoided if not for the negligence of the previous government, responsible for administering the country in the most critical period of the pandemic.

“An alert: It’s time to intensify vaccination. Hospitalizations and deaths from Covid-19 occur mainly in individuals who have not taken the recommended vaccine doses”said Nisia.

The statement from Ministry of Health came after the WHO declared, last Friday (5), the end of the health emergency at an international level, based on the decreasing number of cases and deaths motivated – and registered – by Covid-19, together with the advance of the population immunized by the vaccine.

In her speech, the minister also lamented the death of the 700,000 Brazilians diagnosed with the disease. She pointed out that the result would be different if not for the negligence of the previous government while administering the country in the most critical period of the pandemic. She emphasized that there was no respect for the guidelines of science, as well as there was no fulfillment of the due obligations, on the part of the rulers, to protect the country’s population.

In an optimistic demonstration, Nísia celebrated the WHO declaration, but reiterated that the world’s population has been living with the mutations of the virus for more than a year and that the absence of the worsening of the health situation is only possible with the reinforcement of vaccines. In the end, she made a long thank you, initially to everyone who dedicated themselves to protecting society by risking their own lives, especially before the vaccine. She also thanked the scientists and laboratories that made it possible to produce the vaccine, the politicians who did not support denialism and who contributed to the fight against the pandemic, by ‘SUS‘ (Health Unic System) and the commitment of civil society.

“Yesterday, the emergency committee against covid-19 met for the 15th time and recommended that I declare an end to the public health emergency of international concern. I accepted the recommendation. With great hope, I declare the end of covid-19 as global health emergency”announced the director-general of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Despite the global scenario demonstrating a positive change, the title of pandemic should not be disregarded as it refers to the identification of the disease and its permanent variations in international territory.
