During an interview with the channel BlenderThe Last of Us composer Gustavo Santaolalla has hinted that The Last of Us Part 2 will get a new version.
Santaolalla’s character can be found at the beginning of the game playing the banjo on Jackson and although there is no way to interact with him, in the interview he said that it will be possible to ask him for songs in the new version of the game.
It is important to point out that at no time did he mention “remaster”, so this new The Last of Us Part 2 may just be a port and not a remastering itself.
Anyway, taking into account that Sony already made Director’s Cut versions with Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding on PS5, it wouldn’t be strange for them to repeat this with The Last of Us Part 2.
With the success of the HBO series based on The Last of Us franchise, a Director’s Cut of the second game makes sense to try and piggyback on the hype generated by the series.
