Novak Djokovic, the world’s number 1, has his first match at the Belgrade ATP tournament. The Serbian tennis player started the hunt for his third title in his own country at the Novak Tennis Center with a victory over South Korean Kwon Soon-woo: 6-1 6-3.
Djokovic (33) recovered from his early withdrawal from last week’s Masters tournament in Monte Carlo. The Serb lost in Monaco in the third round to Briton Dan Evans.
In 2009 and 2011 Djokovic was the best in Belgrade. The last edition of the Serbia Open was played in 2012, but this year the tournament returned to the ATP calendar.
In the last eight, Djokovic takes on his fellow countryman Miomir Kecmanovic.
