Preta Gil undergoes ilestomy bag removal procedure and reassures fans

Preta Gil, who has been undergoing treatment for bowel cancer since January, updated her followers about her health status through Instagram Stories. The actress and singer appeared after undergoing surgery to remove the ileostomy bag, at Hospital Sírio Libanês, in São Paulo, last Thursday (30). Procedure that is used to treat disease in the digestive system.

The singer's office reported that the surgery to reverse the ileostomy procedure was a success:

“Preta is well and recovering in the intensive care unit and will soon go to the semi-intensive care unit. Thank you for the love, prayers and concern as always. She is now coming here to talk to you.”

In a photo published on social media today (01), after the procedure, the artist thanks and reassures her fans in a quick message: “I'm already in my room! Thank you for the kind messages.”

The material removal procedure promises to be one of the last steps in the singer's recovery and victory against the disease discovered in 2023.

About the procedure

According to the Procta Gastro Institute website, “ileostomy is the type of intestinal ostomy that connects the small intestine to the external environment. Unlike a colostomy, it has no classifications and feces from an ileostomy are more liquid and acidic than those eliminated through a colostomy. Ileostomy is performed in situations where the passage of feces through the large intestine is impeded.”

Promises

However, even while undergoing treatment for bowel cancer, the singer told Quem magazine, in an exclusive interview, that she intends to celebrate Carnival in 2024 in gratitude for curing the disease.

“It's an absolute certainty that on February 4th, it's not yet clear how, something will happen,” said the artist, who wants to celebrate Bloco da Preta's 15th anniversary next year.”

According to the singer's doctors, the results and recovery are highly positive, but there is still no forecast for discharge.
