Renato Portaluppi reveals desire to repatriate Luan to Grêmio after shocking aggression

Renato Portaluppi, coach of Grêmio, revealed, in an interview, that he spoke with the president of the club, Alberto Guerra, about a possible investment in Luan, from Corinthians. The midfielder trains separately from the other athletes of the Timão, and recently the player was assaulted by alleged fans of the East Zone, in the early hours of last Tuesday (4th), at a motel in São Paulo.

Renato has a good relationship with Luan since the time they worked together at Grêmio and won almost all championships, especially the Libertadores 2017. In an interview, the coach was asked about the athlete’s current situation, and he said he was saddened by the aggressive episode and demanded punishment from the aggressors, and also revealed his intention to take the midfielder to the Rio Grande do Sul team.

The coach of the current vice-leading team of the Brasileirão commented that in Rio Grande do Sul, Luan did some of the things he does in São Paulo, but Renato insisted on praising the athlete’s commitment, saying that the former shirt number 7 was the first to arrive and the last to leave training. Renato Gaúcho was outraged by what happened to Luan and says that some things happen in Brazil that are difficult to understand. The coach stated that these situations happen in some clubs and things are being “pushed with the belly”. He also ratified saying that our country will start to take more severe measures with the aggressors only when they kill someone.

Luan and Corinthians have a contract until the end of the current season, and the athlete has not played for an official match since February 2022. The player had 50% of the rights purchased by the Paulistas in early 2020 by R$28.9 million and has a salary in the house of BRL 800 thousand.
