Guerlain perfume arrives in Brazil

Some perfumes smell smooth, elegant, discreet. Other perfumes show sophistication as soon as they open the package. And Guerlain knows this very well, as it is one of the first names that come to mind when it comes to a sophisticated aroma.

And to the delight of many people, the brand will bring the L’Art & La Matière line to Brazil this year.

But don’t get yourself thinking that the brand will bring conventional sophistication that we’re used to in all the perfumes we’ve smelled over the years. Guerlain will bring, on average, 33 fragrances, among them, with unprecedented aromas in the world of perfumes.

The brand’s current perfumer, Thierry Wasser, reveals that “This collection is about staging raw materials. As it is a small volume line, we managed to play with rare and special ingredients, putting one or two of them under the spotlight in each perfume. This makes the creation of these fragrances very different from more conventional methods. And, as the name implies, we took inspiration from the world of arts to compose some of the scents”.

One of the perfumes, called Néroli Outrenoir, is inspired by paintings finished in black tones by the French artist Pierre Soulages. “The interesting thing about his work is how the light hits the painting and gives it movement. Neroli Outrenoir follows exactly the same path. You have the light of the orange blossom reflecting off the black tea, which gives an olfactory movement to the fragrance.”points out Thierry.

Where to buy?

In Brazil it will be available from June. But if you don’t mind buying from foreign stores, Thierry also gives you a very important tip: “As soon as the person enters, I ask them to try four scent bases and indicate their favorites. Then I ask intimate questions about memories of aromas, favorite rooms in the house, favorite foods, these are things that point the way. Many cannot finish without having their eyes filled with water, it ends up touching the person’s subconscious”.
