Robinho is arrested in Santos and will serve detention in Brazil

Robinho was previously sentenced by the Italian Court to 9 years in prison, due to the crime of group sexual violence against an Albanian woman, which occurred during his time at Milan. On the 20th of this week, the Special Court of the STJ assessed the request by the Italian authorities for Robinho to serve his sentence in Brazil as constitutional. Due to his Brazilian citizenship, he cannot be extradited to serve his sentence abroad.

The penalty

Under Brazilian law, the former athlete cannot be extradited and there was no judgment on whether he was guilty or not. The STJ's determination is for the prison to be closed. The STJ document for the Santos Court is part of the process for Robinho's arrest, since the former player lives in a mansion in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo, valued at approximately R$ 10 million, and should be arrested close to home.

The defense

The former athlete will have to leave his family home to serve the sentence determined by the Court. So that Robinho is not immediately arrested, the former player's defense has contacted the Federal Supreme Court (STF) so that his client can await the decision on all other appeals that will be launched. The request ended up in the hands of Minister Luiz Fuxwhose decision will be made shortly.

The Federal Supreme Court (STF) has just dismissed Robinho's defense action and confirmed the STJ's sentence. Robson de Souza is currently being taken to the Federal Police headquarters. The arrest took place at 7 pm this Thursday (21). He will undergo a corpus delicti examination and must attend custody hearing soon. After these measures, you will be sent to a penitentiary, which has not yet been established.
