Sabrina Sato enchants Sapucaí in Parade of Champions in Rio with Vila Isabel

The Rio de Janeiro 2024 Carnival Champions Parade took place in the early hours of this Sunday (18) and the drum queen of Vila Isabel for 12 years, Sabrina Sato, appeared stunning in Sapucaí.

Sabrina guided Swingueira de Noel on the theme “Gbala – Journey to the Temple of Creation on the Avenue”, a revival of the 1993 plot made by Vila Isabel, which made the school second best that year. In 2024, Vila Isabel came in sixth place.

Always very busy during the carnival period, after a stunning performance with Visa Isabel, Sato went straight to São Paulo, where she performed with Gaviões da Fiel, which came fourth in the 2024 São Paulo Carnival. Sabrina paraded with Vila Isabel at 10pm, and then at 3:20am, I was at Anhembi with Gaviões da Fiel, in São Paulo.

Fantasy

Her look with pink and red tones, lots of shine and weighing around 40 kg, being the heaviest costume the presenter has ever worn, was made entirely of iron and crystals by designer Henrique Filho, who has designed his costumes for 10 years, and who dubbed the outfit “Blood Stream”.

Sabrina revealed that the meaning behind the name of the look is that “it's her [a corrente sanguínea] that feeds our body and makes our heart beat”. The presenter also joked about the weight of the costume and said that she paraded carrying “five Zoes”, comparing the costume to his daughter, Zoe.

Challenges

Drum queen of two schools, Sato revealed the challenges she needs to face during this period of the year, in an interview with UOL. The presenter said that her Carnival costumes together weighed approximately 60 kg, but it was worth it due to the emotion she felt when she was on the Avenue. “I love Carnival. This place [Sapucaí] brings so much joy to the people. I'm very grateful to be here”, stated Sabrina.

Sabrina also shared that, despite not having taken energy drinks, she hadn't been able to sleep much in the last few days, in addition to highlighting that she had several bruises on her body. “Any weight becomes light. Any bruises, blood… I'm all bruised, in several places, my groin, anything you can imagine, because there were two parades”, said the presenter.

For VEJA magazine, Sato reported that, unlike other drum queens, she doesn't usually go on diets before the parades. Sabrina listed her menu and confessed that she ate pasta, rice, tapioca and even drank soda before putting on the costume.
