Sales of alcoholic drinks reach an increase of 12% during Carnival

The 2024 Carnival was marked by a significant increase in alcoholic beverage sales across the country. According to a survey carried out by Linx, a company specialized in technology for retail, growth was 12% compared to the same period last year and Tiago Mello, marketing director, attributed some factors to the increase of alcohol consumption during the period.

Increase in sales during the Carnival period

In addition to the parties already considered traditional, one factor for the increase in sales of alcoholic beverages being 12% during Carnival is the emergence of new parties in several different states, this is what Tiago Mello, marketing director at Linx attributed this to this greater increase in sales.

Increased revenue in local markets

The sectors that gained the most prominence in these alcoholic beverage sales scenarios were, especially, convenience stores and small markets, proximity markets (points of sale close to the area where the customer resides).Â

In the week before Carnival, these establishments saw an increase of around 14%. At these points of sale, revenue from alcoholic beverages showed an impressive increase of 137%, compared to last year's carnival.Â

The sale of alcoholic beverages represented 25% of revenue in convenience stores and minimarkets during the carnival period. This index exceeds the numbers recorded in 2023 (12%) and 2022 (6%), showing a trend of change in consumption behavior.
