SZA surprises fans with acoustic version of her collaboration with Justin Bieber

Proving that the duality of “Snooze” is here to stay, singer SZA surprised her fans by releasing an acoustic version of her collaboration with Justin Bieber on all digital platforms this Friday (15) and further cementing the success of this partnership. The track belongs to a deluxe edition of the album “SOS”, released last year.

According to information from Variety, the expanded version of the album contains 10 extra tracks and is expected later this year.

Partnership of millions

The acoustic version of the single introduces the listener to new vocals from the eternal performer of “Baby”, whose original version of the song found a spot on former US President Barack Obama's summer 2023 playlist.

To the sound of a carefully chosen acoustic guitar, the first verse sung by SZA follows normally before JB joins her in the chorus that says “I can't go crazy when I'm with you/How can I fall asleep and miss the moment? /You are very important”.

Soon after, JB takes over the vocals for the second verse of the track, declaring “In a convertible ride with you / I feel like in “Scarface” (“Scarface”) / Like that white bitch with the bob / I'll be your main (your main) / Let's take this argument to my house (My house) /Sex reminds you that I'm against violence /I've been with you from the beginning (from the beginning)” while SZA adds harmonies behind the song.

The duo intertwines their incredible vocals throughout the rest of the verses, presenting listeners with a new and iconic take on the single originally co-produced by Babyface, BLK Beats and The Rascals.

As if all the success wasn't enough, “Snooze” also earned SZA her second number 1 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, topping the list dated July 1st. Additionally, the song also marked SZA's second No. 1 of her career on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

As already mentioned, the artist's new project will be an expanded version with 10 more bonus tracks. The lyrics for “Snooze” were written by SZA herself and produced by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, The Rascals (Khris Riddick-Tynes, Leon Thomas) and BLK. The album was certified double platinum by the RIAA, for having more than 8 billion streams worldwide.

Additionally, the single is the album's fourth No. 1 crown, reigning on the Urban Mainstream and Rhythm radio charts, following “I Hate U,” “Kill Bill” and “Shirt,” tracks that still remain at the top of the most listened to R&B songs on Billboard.
