Women of Sand: Marcos asks Raquel to marry him

In “Mulheres de Areia”, a soap opera that is being rerun by Rede Globo, Marcos (Guilherme Fontes) was having a relationship with Ruth (Gloria Pires).

Marcos gets confused and chooses Raquel over Ruth. Ruth tells Isaura that Raquel used her name to steal Marcos. Isaura defends Raquel to Ruth. Wanderlei calls Raquel by her name in front of Marcos. Raquel lies to Marcos about Ruth. Marcos asks Raquel to marry him. Marcos arrives to talk to Floriano. Floriano allows Marcos to bring his mother to meet him. Marcos tells Breno that he is going to marry Raquel. Malu has a party at home. Virgílio and Clarita arrive home and Malu is having a party.

Mulheres de Areia was originally shown between February 1st and September 25th, 1993. The plot was written by Ivani Ribeiro and was directed by Carlos Magalhães, Ignácio Coqueiro and Wolf Maya.

Monday, July 17th

Ruth starts to tell Marcos what really happened. Floriano arrives and Ruth gives up on continuing the conversation. Marcos tells Raquel that he wants to schedule the wedding for the end of the month. Dalua returns home. At Arlete’s farm, Malu takes Alaor’s revolver and shoots it, which ends up hitting Carola. César fights with Malu because of the shooting at Carola. Rozendo tells Virgílio that it was Tônia who warned Breno about the beach signs. Joel argues with Tônia about the signs on the beach. Raquel collects the money from Wanderlei again. Marcos takes Clarita to meet Raquel’s family. Raquel tells Clarita that Virgílio gave her money to disrupt Ruth’s relationship with Marcos. Clarita meets Floriano, Isaura and Ruth.

Tuesday, July 18th

Dalua shows Alzira a sculpture. Virgílio goes to Tonia’s store, the two argue and she throws him out. Clarita tells Marcos that she didn’t like Raquel. Malu confirms to Carola that Virgílio bought Arlete’s farm. Clarita and Alemão meet again. Wanderlei grabs Ruth thinking she is Raquel. Clarita gives Virgílio the envelope with money that Raquel asked for it to be returned. Virgílio is disgusted with Raquel. Raquel tells Marcos that she wants to get married in church. Clarita tells Julieta that Raquel’s family is very simple. Ruth asks Raquel about Wanderlei’s money, but she doesn’t talk. Marcos sees Raquel with Wanderlei and goes after her, who pretends to be Ruth.

Wednesday, July 19th

Marcos is stunned, but Raquel manages to convince him that she is Ruth. Afterwards, Raquel gives her sister the necklace and earrings she was wearing. From Lua she tells Marcos that Raquel is bad. Virgílio gives money to Zé Pedro to buy another stall for Manoela and tells him to put a scarecrow next to the stall to satirize Breno. Marcos says goodbye to Ruth and notices that she is wearing the necklace that Raquel wore while she was pretending that she was her sister. Arlete confuses Raquel with Ruth. Andréa sees Raquel in the garden of Marcos’ house.

Thursday, July 20th

Andréa introduces herself to Raquel and Clarita is amazed to see them together. Virgílio asks Marcos to stay at his house after marrying Raquel until he can build a house for them. At Virgílio’s request, Alaor goes to his house and finds Malu. Raquel goes back to Pontal and tells her mother about Marcos’ house. Afterwards, she meets with Vanderlei. Floriano catches the two together and fights with Vanderlei. Da Lua is desperate when he sees that the sculpture he had made of his friend Ruth has been destroyed.

Floriano lectures Raquel on account of her having met Vanderlei. Furious, Raquel tells her father that Ruth is not a saint and that she has a secret. Ruth tells Raquel that she’s going to tell Marcos that she doesn’t like him and Raquel threatens her. Da Lua takes some caustic soda and tells Alzira that she is going to burn Raquel’s hand. Afterwards, he goes to Floriano’s house and enters without anyone seeing him. At that moment, Donato and the delegate arrive there. Da Lua asks Ruth to say that he went there because she asked for the chemical.
