Abel Ferreira says he does not think about leaving Palmeiras

Desired by teams from other countries and considered to be coach of the Brazilian national team, Abel Ferreira, coach of Palmeiras, said again that he does not think about leaving alviverde until the contract ends. After losing the unbeaten record in the Brazilian Championship to Bahia, last Wednesday, for the 11th round, the Portuguese player showed love for the players and the club.

“If there’s something that holds me back, it’s my athletes and my club. Fulfilling my contract with all due respect and seriousness. We’ve already won two titles this year, we have three up for grabs and we want to win more.”replied Abel, in a press conference.

Once again, the coach expressed loyalty to Palmeiras, the coach wants to fulfill his contract, which ends in December 2024, and “rest” afterwards.

“I’ve said it several times, I want to fulfill my contract and then rest. My intention is to follow my plan, you know, I move by conviction”completed the Portuguese.

The name of Abel Ferreira was cited as a target by teams from Arabia and even from Paris Saint-Germain, but no official proposal for Palmeiras arrived. The CBF also looked for him, for a possible “plan B”, in case Carlo Ancelotti did not accept the invitation.

The coach’s contract renewal is the president’s main wish Leila Pereira, who is trying to be re-elected next year, when his mandate ends, in the same period that Abel’s contract ends. In an interview withGlobe Sports’, Leila said that her wish is for the Portuguese to be with her until the last day as president of Palmeiras.

Recently, Abel Ferreira reached the milestone of 200 matches in charge of Palmeiras. In the current season, the Portuguese has already won two titles: Supercopa do Brasil, against Flamengo and Paulistão, defeating Água Santa. Palmeiras is one of the favorites in the three remaining competitions of the season, in addition to being in second place in the Brasileirão, it is one of the clubs guaranteed for the round of 16 of the Libertadores, and in the Copa do Brasil, it faces São Paulo, for the quarterfinals .
