Feyenoord captain Berghuis

Feyenoord captain Steven Berghuis is in ajax’s interest. The Amsterdam club reported the interest to the 29-year-old forward’s management on Tuesday.

Berghuis’s current contract with Feyenoord expires in mid-2022 and includes a limited redemption fee of 4 million euros. Berghuis is active with the Dutch at the European Championships this month. He has already indicated several times this year that he does not want to think about his future until after the European Championship.

Ajax reportedly have competition from PSV in the battle for Berghuis. Wolfsburg, where Mark van Bommel was appointed coach at the beginning of this month, would also be interested.

In March, Berghuis said that he could not promise the new Feyenoord-coach Arne Slot that he would still play in De Kuip after the summer. “Slot asked me to think about staying. But I really don’t know, I don’t think that far ahead,” the winger said.

Berghuis has been playing in Rotterdam for five years

Berghuis has been playing for Feyenoord since the summer of 2016. The 27-time Dutch international was loaned out from Watford in his first season, but in the summer of 2017 Feyenoord finally took him over from the Premier League club.
