Eurovision Song Contest 2022
Preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 have officially started. The so-called Reference Group met on Tuesday at the Headquarters of the European Broadcasting Union in Geneva, Switzerland.
The reference group consists of a few heads of delegation, executive producers of previous editions and Eurovision boss Martin Österdahl. It is their job to transfer the event to the next organizer, in this case Italy, without any problems. Sietse Bakker and Astrid Dutrenit were present on behalf of the NPO.
According to the Italian head of delegation Simona Martorelli, there is a lot of enthusiasm in Italy around the Eurovision Song Contest. “Our first task, of course, is to find a great host city for next year’s show in the summer,” she says on the Eurovision website.
The transfer between the organising broadcasters is always a special moment, adds Österdahl. “We look back on three great shows in Rotterdam and we are delighted to welcome the team of the Italian broadcaster RAI”, he says. “We are already looking forward to what they will bring us in 2022.”
The Eurovision song contest will take place in Italy next year because of Maneskin’s victory in Rotterdam.
