Elton John, one of the biggest names in world music, achieved a surprising and incredible feat at the age of 75. The singer accumulated a total of US$817.9 million throughout his tour with 278 shows, the artist now has the most profitable tour ever seen.

This achievement came after the great repercussion of Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tourwhich began in September 2018. The tour marks the last tour undertaken by the pop star, who announced his retirement from the stage as soon as he completes all tour commitments.

According to numbers reported to Billboard Boxscore, the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tourmanaged to raise more than any other tour in music history.

The previous position belonged to singer Ed Sheeran, with the The Divide Tour, which managed to raise an impressive US$776.4 million. With this new feat, Elton John also becomes the first artist to raise more than US$800 million.

Singer Ed Sheeran achieved this record in 2019, after finishing his tour with 258 shows, replacing The 360 ​​Tour, by the band U2, which had grossed US$736.4 million. Both tours traveled the world playing on six and five continents respectively, thus spending most of their time in stadiums.

Elton John spent 2018 and 2020, plus the quarter of 2022, in North America, Europe and Oceania. The singer's first three stages in North America totaled US$268.2 million in 116 shows. Between July and November last year it raised US$222.1 million.

The 75-year-old artist, known for classics such as “Rocket Man (I Think it's Going To Be a Long, Long Time) and I'm Still Standing, announced as headliner of Glastonbury Festival 2023, which will take place on June 25th, in the United Kingdom. The singer also says he is deeply excited for the show through his Instagram.

A Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, It had to be paused at the beginning of 202 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and was resumed at the beginning of 2022.
