Virna talks about volleyball
There were more than three hours of a relaxed conversation where Joel Jota and his guests talked about sport, life and career. Virna recalled difficult moments she faced in her career, such as the time when the women's volleyball team went without a salary for six months. Furthermore, the Olympic medalist recalled the defeat to the Cuban team at the 1996 Olympic Games.
“We lost because they were the best. But it was detail. Because they train more than us, no one trained there. I'm sure. That generation in Cuba doesn't lose to any country today. They played a lot”he stated.
Virna also commented on the difficulties that Cuban athletes were going through: “We took away their prizes. So, it was financial necessity. 90% was for the government and ten was for them. It was to survive.”
The presenter shared with listeners her entire journey over more than 30 years as a sports journalist. Furthermore, Glenda talked about her departure from one of the biggest Brazilian television stations and shared, exclusively, the news of her new project.
The new project
“There will be a live program soon. After 32 years, I left sports and went into entertainment. It's me and Zeca Camargo, the presenters. We are drawing with great care. After a lot of talk, we debut on August 21st. Lots of good things, every day, from Monday to Friday. With an audience, lots of interactivity, lots of social media. Moving forward, we will have three cell phone-shaped screens. Interactivity all the time. We will know what people at home are thinking all the time”said.
