Belgium: The police in Brussels carried out 132 arrests on Saturday evening for ending an illegal party in the Bois de la Cambre city park. According to the police, 28 people were injured in the disturbances, including thirteen officers.
The authorities had previously banned the ‘blast party’ La Boum 2 and sent hundreds of officers to the park.
Despite this, it attracted between 1,000 and 2,000 people, mostly young people. Among them were also opponents of corona measures, such as a retired soldier in uniform who said that fundamental rights in Belgium are being violated and that people should be able to “live in humanity” again.
Many young people sought confrontation with the advancing officers who, among other things, cleaned the park with water cannons. After that, peace returned to the Bois de la Cambre.
