After the session held last Friday afternoon at the STJD (Supreme Tibuna of Sports Justice), Jhon Textor, owner of SAF do Botafogo, was punished with a 45-day suspension and a fine of R$100,000 for statements made after the defeat of his team in a match played against Palmeiras in November 2023 for the Brazilian Championship.

According to the ruling, the American cannot go to football venues on the alivengra team's game days. Therefore, the executive will not be able to enter Nilton Santos, Botafogo's stadium, for the next 17 days, as president of the SAF, as a guest or even as a fan. Textor has already served 28 of the 45 days of suspension.

The executive's process has been ongoing since last year, when the director received a 30-day preventive punishment. Botafogo, at the time, obtained a suspensive effect so that the American could be present with the team during the last games of the 2023 Brazilian Championship. The analysis of the action was discussed again this year, but there were two requests for review, by vice-president of the STJD, Felipe Bevilacqua, who requested more time to study the case.

The case

The president of Botafogo was tried after strong statements on the edge of the field at the Nilton Santos stadium, on November 1, 2023. Glorioso won the match against Palmeiras 3-1, but ended up suffering a comeback after the expulsion of Adryelson and the penalty missed by striker Tiquinho Soares. After the final whistle, the black leader gestured money signs to the refereeing team and used the broadcast microphone to complain and criticize the CBF.
