Flamengo board holds press conference and criticizes arbitration

On Saturday night (4), after Bragantino and Flamengo drew 1-1, at the Nabizão stadium, in Bragança Paulista, coach Tite did not hold a press conference. Irritated by the performance of match referee Paulo Cézar Zanovelli, directors Bruno Spindel and Marcos Braz spoke to the press and harshly criticized the Brazilian refereeing.

After the end of the match, while still leaving the field, Bruno Spindel, executive director of Flamengo, made a request via the press office to make a statement. The request was met by the match broadcaster and the director criticized the refereeing.

Spindel called the moment an “accident”. In the director's view, the fact that there are accusations of theft, fraud and manipulation of results means that the referees are cornered and, game after game, harm Flamengo.

Still on the topic, Bruno was asked whether, institutionally, Flamengo would take any action. The agent considered that the club had already sent a letter at other times, but that it was of no use:

“The office is no use, because they don't respect it like that. If you want respect, just call the CPI there in Brasília, expose it, say that you are a thief, say that there is a robbery, that's the only way it works”, said the director.

Braz criticizes arbitration

At a press conference, Flamengo's vice-president, Marcos Braz, also criticized the arbitration. For Braz, what is happening is a shame and he didn't complain on the playing field out of “pity” for the referees.

“I want to understand the following: is it the one who hits the table the hardest, the one who fights the most, who is taking the lead? Is that why the CBF is kneeling? Is it the one who hits the table, the one who hits, the one who makes extremely dangerous conclusions?” said Braz.

To conclude, Flamengo's football vice-president stated that if the club understands that it will have to press, Flamengo will also press. But understand that this is not the best way.
