Microsoft will raise prices for Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft revealed that the price of the Xbox Series X will go up in most countries in August, with the exception of the United States, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Japan. Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will also get more expensive, with the basic Game Pass subscription rising from R$29.99 to R$32.99 per month starting in July in Brazil.

“We’ve maintained our console prices for many years and have adjusted prices to reflect the competitive conditions in each market,” said Kari Perez, Xbox’s head of communications, in a statement given to the The Verge.

The Xbox Series X price increase will mainly come to match the increase Sony announced for the PS5 last year, with the Xbox Series X now priced at £479.99 in the UK, €549.99 in most European countries. , CAD $649.99 in Canada and AUD $799.99 in Australia as of August 1st. Xbox Series S pricing will remain unchanged across all regions, continuing at $249.99.

Speaking of Game Pass, the subscription boost will take place on July 6th. In Brazil, the basic plan for consoles will go up from R$29.99 to R$32.99, while the Ultimate plan will go up from R$44.99 to R$49.99. PC Game Pass will not change in value.

Current Game Pass subscribers will only have to pay the new amount from August 13th, or September 13th in the case of Germany. New subscribers will see the change immediately on July 6th. If you have an annual subscription to the service, the new price will only be charged when you need to renew your subscription.
