São Paulo players say goodbye to Rogério Ceni on social media
Today was a day of farewells at Morumbi. Coach Rogério Ceni no longer commands the tricolor team, even after beating Venezuela’s Puerto Cabello yesterday by 2-0 in a match valid for the second round of the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana. On social networks, players from Tricolor Paulista thanked the now former coach of the club for his recent work.
One such player was striker Jonathan Calleri. The Argentine published a story on Instagram thanking the coach for the knowledge passed on during the last season:
“Rogerio! I would like to thank you for this time we spent together. The opportunity to have lived with you was very special. His professionalism and great competitiveness are things that I will always carry with me. You were and always will be SÃO PAULO. Thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart” published the striker.

In addition to Calleri, other São Paulo players used Instagram to thank Rogério Ceni. Midfielder Rodrigo Nestor published the following message:
“Professor, it was a pleasure to work with you. May God light your path. Thank you for everything”, wrote the player.
Gabriel Neves also left his message for the former coach:
“Thanks. I learned a lot from you and your work group, that’s why I wish you good things from now on”, published.
Another midfielder who used the social network to thank him was Pablo Maia:
“Thank you Rogério, for all the teachings! Living day to day with an idol, one of the greatest in history… I’ll take it for life!! Good luck in your next career steps!”, thanked Pablo Maia.
On his second visit, Rogério Ceni scored 55.4 percent; with 107 games, 50 wins, 28 draws and 29 losses. In addition to Rogério, the entire technical commission that worked with the coach was also fired.
The board of Tricolor Paulista works behind the scenes to announce the new coach in the coming days. Dorival Júnior’s name is treated as plan A and conversations with the coach’s representative are moving forward.
