DEATH
Amy Winehouse died on July 23, 2011, from an alcohol overdose. She was found lifeless in her bed, in the house where she lived in Camdem, in central London. On the floor were found, what we can call weapons, which led to an announced death: three empty vodka bottles.
The medical report carried out at the time indicated 4.16 grams of alcohol per liter of blood in the artist’s body, and an alcoholic coma occurs when there is more than 3.5 grams of alcohol in the victim’s blood.
Amy Winehouse became known worldwide for her unmistakable voice and the mixture of styles such as jazz, soul, R&B and other rhythms in her songs. Amy died at the age of 27, joining the famous and macabre “27 Club”: name given to the phenomenon of great musicians who died at 27, as Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrissonamong others, who died of alcohol intoxication.
The singer was returning to drink after trying to stay sober for a period, and excessive drinking after a certain time without alcohol intake would have been the reason for Amy’s death. However, family members of the famous allege that the main reason that led to the artist’s death would have been bulimia, as Winehouse faced different eating disorders throughout her life.
SONGS
Among the singer’s biggest hits are “Rehab”, “Back To Black”, “Valerie”, “You Know I’m No Good”, among others. The album “Back To Black”, from 2006, was chosen by “The Guardian” as the best album of the century. Accumulating awards, records and a legion of fans, Amy’s legacy is perpetuated to this day in the world of music and culture, whether with the composer’s famous eyeliner, her striking hairstyle or her personality, at the same time strong and sweet, described by close friends.
In music, her work is seen as a reference and symbol for new artists who also seek to mix jazz with pop and popularize rhythm as Amy did.
