FBI uses Nintendo Switch to find missing teen

The FBI found a 15-year-old girl who had been missing for 11 days thanks to her Nintendo Switch, as reported in the report by the newspaper. ABC15.
The teen, whose name has been withheld because of her age, was taken from her Virginia home on Aug. 3, 2022 by 28-year-old Ethan Roberts, a man she had met online.
According to the records of this case, Roberts allowed her to bring her Nintendo Switch. When she connected the video game to Wi-Fi to watch YouTube or download a game, she went online. This alerted one of her friends, who alerted the authorities.
With Nintendo’s help, the FBI then obtained the Switch’s IP address which led them to the kidnapper’s apartment complex, who had forced the girl to make child pornography. Both were in Tolleson, Arizona, more than 3,000 km away from her home.
If a device is connected to the internet, it can be located. “A cell phone, an iPad, a watch, whatever — you can use those things to locate people,” said retired Arizona Department of Public Safety director Frank Milstead.
