Ana Hickmann is criticized for attitudes during the kidnapping of Eloá, in 2008

Last Thursday night (4), on TV Globo, the first episode of the new version of “Direct line” aired, and featured a prosecutor who said that “a television presenter put herself in the position of negotiator”, in the case of the kidnapping of the 15-year-old girl, Eloá.

It was deduced by part of the public that he was referring to Sonia Abrão, who at the time of the sad episode ended up interviewing the kidnapper Lindemberg Alves live, in addition to having recently declared that “I would do it all over again”.

The Eloá case happened in October 2008. Lindemberg, who at the time was 22, unhappy with the end of his relationship with 15-year-old Eloá, kidnapped the young woman and her friends while they were doing a school project. A few hours later, he freed the two boys and remained with Eloá and her friend Nayara. The kidnapping lasted 5 days and was heavily covered by the media at the time, which may have played a crucial role in the outcome of the situation. Amid much suffering and anguish, the case ended with the tragic death of Eloá during an attempted invasion by the police.

Ana Hickmann was also mentioned by viewers, since also on the days when the kidnapping was taking place, she asked Lindemberg to wave at the cameras through the captivity window, if she was watching her program.

Through the press office of the presenter in question, Ana decided to apologize to the victim’s family for her attitudes towards the incident: “Ana Hickmann, through her press office, regrets the way in which the Eloá case was conducted in 2008. The presenter recognizes the erroneous attitude she committed at the time, and apologizes to the victims and their families”, the statement said. “After the episode of the program Linha Direta, shown last Thursday (4), Ana Hickmann has been receiving death threats through social networks. Hate messages awaken emotional triggers, triggered after the attack she suffered in 2016 in Belo Horizonte. The presenter reaffirms her apology and asks for respect at this time,” stated in the communiqué made by his accessory.
