Daily marijuana use may increase risk of heart attack

At the University of California, San Francisco, research was carried out analyzing data from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) on more than 434,000 people. Heart health is linked to the daily use of marijuana, which can cause complications, according to a study published in the “Journal of the American Heart Association”.

For the study, an interview was carried out, which showed that daily users of cannabis had a 25% increased risk of heart attack and 42% increased risk of stroke.

In this study, it was discovered that marijuana is harmless, but the results showed that constant use, including smoking, is as bad as tobacco cigarettes, with marijuana use increasing while tobacco use is decreasing.

Taking risks naturally

In reasonable health, the majority of those interviewed, aged between 18 and 34 years old, were people who do not go to the doctor that much and say they are young and invincible, in a “unique” study, that is, carried out separately from users of cannabis of tobacco users, according to Robert Page, president of the American Heart Association and professor at the Colorado College of Medicine.

Regarding the use of medical marijuana, Robert Page stressed how important it is to weigh the risks of its use with a doctor.

Restrict or release

Despite some restrictions, in the United States, scientists from federal institutions argue that marijuana is not as risky and prone to abuse, and also because it has medicinal benefits.

Federal health authorities suggest a change in the drug's classification, given that scientists recommend its use through medical prescription, like other synthetic drugs. Furthermore, its abusive use can lead to physical or even psychological dependence, although serious results are almost low.

Therefore, the recommendation is to reevaluate the use of marijuana, so that it can be reclassified later.
