His sister Nancy revealed the terrible news this Wednesday, together with his other sister Carol: the Chinese-American singer Coco Lee died on July 2, 2023 at the age of 48. With three decades of career, she was known internationally for having participated in the songs of the films Tiger and Dragon, Mulan but also Just Married or almost with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.
On Instagram, his sister Nancy gave details of the circumstances of his death: “Coco had suffered from depression for a few years, but her condition has deteriorated considerably over the past few months.“According to her, everything suggests that she would have put an end to her life. The emergency services tried in vain to resuscitate her but she ended up being declared dead on July 5. She had been followed by professionals to try to resolve its problems, but it will not have been enough.”As Coco’s family, we are so honored to have such an amazing sister. We are grateful to God for giving us such a good angel“, she adds.
From China to the United States
With its participation in the cartoon Mulan (1998) – as the heroine’s voice in Mandarin and performing the song Reflection -, Coco Lee, originally from Hong-Kong, had also participated as a juror of chinese idol and the Chinese version of Dance with the starsrespectively in 2013 and 2015. She also made a remarkable appearance at the Oscars in 2001, performing the flagship title of the feature film Tiger and Dragon, A Love Before Time.
His death plunges his fans and loved ones into infinite grief. She got engaged in 2005 to Canadian businessman Bruce Philip Rockowitz, who has two daughters from a first union. The couple were married in 2011 in Hong Kong during a ceremony in which Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys and Ne-Yo took part in providing performances.
