Exodus at twitter leadership –
Several employees in top positions have announced their departure from the social media platform Twitter. They are leaving because of the uncertainty caused by the intended acquisition of the company by billionaire Elon Musk. It is still not known whether and when the acquisition of Twitter, which involves an amount of 42 billion euros, will go ahead.
Ilya Brown, vice president of the product management division, and Katrina Lane, who holds a similar role at Twitter Service, are leaving the company.
Max Schmeiser, the head of data sciences, also draws his conclusions, the company confirmed.
Barely a week ago, Twitter threw its organization on the shovel. Among other things, two top executives were fired. Twitter has also made cuts.
The recruitment of new staff is currently frozen. The company says it has no layoffs planned. However, CEO Parag Agrawal told employees in an e-mail that the company is facing an efficiency boost.
Musk previously said that he will only let the acquisition of the company go through if the social media platform can substantiate its claims about the share of fake accounts on the messaging service. Until there is more clarity about that, the deal is on hold.
Documents published Tuesday showed that Musk had discussed a takeover with the company’s board two weeks before he announced he had taken a 9.2 percent stake in Twitter.
At that time, there would also have been talk of joining the board of the company.
