Joelma talks about stage farewell rumors

Last Friday, the 14th, Joelma made history at the Centro de Tradições Nordestinas (CTN), in São Paulo, for being the first artist to have tickets sold out in a solo show.

The event in question was the recording of the second part of the DVD ‘isso é Calypso Tour Brasil’, a show with a lot of dancing, a repertoire with the singer’s greatest hits, and, of course, Joelma’s unforgettable clothes, who wore 5 costumes during your presentation.

The show also featured the special participation of singer Pocah, who shared the stage with Joelma and gave a surprise performance of the song ‘husbands and wives’, by the band Calypso.

“Since the beginning of my career, the city of São Paulo has been very important. I recorded my first DVD in SP in a northeastern house too. So when this project came up, SP couldn’t be left out. I am very grateful to everyone who is part of my story and we will remember beautiful moments together and live new ones!!”comments Joelma, who should publicize her show in other capitals of the country.

There are rumors that ‘isso é Calypso Tour Brasil’ would be Joelma’s last project, after 30 years of career.

“The future belongs to God, it’s not in my plans yet, but God willing, what can I do? He’s in charge.” commented the Queen of Calypso.

Joelma claims that, even after so many years of concerts with the band, butterflies in her stomach are still inevitable. “It still gives you that butterflies in your stomach. If you lose that butterflies in your stomach, it becomes something very artificial. When the time comes I get numb, I get so full that I get numb, I don’t even know how to explain it”.

The singer went through very difficult times in her career when she contracted Covid 5 times, which left some consequences. “It was the Covid part, it was the hardest part of my life, because not having the health to do what you love is complicated“, she said.

Joelma had more than 22 million albums sold, was nominated for a Latin Grammy and for national awards.

When asked about her biggest accomplishment, the singer stated: “The biggest dream I ever fulfilled was having my family, my children and spreading music from my state to Brazil and I managed to spread it to part of the world”.
