As found by user Ziostorm On Twitter, Kenneth (Kin Yue) Chan, lead designer on both Elden Ring and its DLC, has updated his LinkedIn profile replacing the “unannounced project” on his resume with Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Taking this into account, we can conclude that the expansion has been in development since April 2022, two months after Elden Ring was released.
The DLC was announced in February, right around Elden Ring’s 1st anniversary date. As it has been in the works for over a year, this means that the additional content is expected to be a significant size and also that it will probably take a while for us to play.
There’s been a rumor floating around for the past few months that says we’ll see Shadow of the Erdtree being shown off in June during Summer Game Fest.
