SA radio awards 2021
Anele Mdoda, Moeti “Mo Flava” Tsiki, Lucky “LTK” Komanisi, Sizwe Dhlomo, Bongani Mtolo, Bongani Bingwa and Lenny T Legodi lead the nomination pack for this year’s SA Radio Awards.
Legodi (Thobela FM) – along with former co-host Mankoko Baby – and Mtolo (Radio 2000) are nodded for the PBS (public broadcast service) breakfast show presenter.
They are joined by Phiwe “DJ Pastor” Nozewu (Umhlobo Wenene) as well as O’Neil Nair and Shaastra Nagesar from Lotus FM.
Mdoda (947) and Bingwa (702) will compete with Tsiki (Metro FM), David O’Sullivan (Kaya FM), Wayne Hart (Algoa FM) and Martin Bester (Jacaranda FM) in the category for commercial breakfast show presenter.
Mdoda’s show Anele and The Club is also nominated for best breakfast show.
“I share this industry recognition with all our listeners across Joburg who make the show what it is. Our listeners are co-hosts, they help drive our content and their engagement is what makes the show come alive,” Mdoda said.
“The acknowledgment is always welcome and I would like to congratulate my fellow finalists who help make great breakfast radio in the country.”
Bingwa said the acknowledgement from his peers and industry was massive.
“But the listeners of my show are the true heroes, they are active participants in the creation of the show and content and I share this recognition with them.”

Komanisi (Motsweding FM), last year’s winner for PBS afternoon drive presenter, is once again nodded in the category.
He will duke it out with Thabo wa Mo-Afrika (Thobela FM), Ntombi Meso (Radio 2000), Amaza Ntshanga (Umhlobo Wenene) and Biziwe Masango (Ikwekwezi FM).
Komanisi’s show Gotetsa Mosha is also nodded for best afternoon show.
“This is big recognition from our industry experts. For me and my team [it means we] are on the right track because we have two nominations. Last year I won and I realised my contribution to the lives of our listeners through the content we dish [out] every day,” Komanisi said.
Kaya FM’s Dhlomo’s return to radio has paid off.
He is recognised in the commercial afternoon drive presenter, where he will wrestle for the award Nick Hamman (5fm), Rian Van Heerden (Jacaranda FM) and John Perlman (702).
With 89 nominations, SABC Radio continues to dominate the market.
“We are delighted that our radio brands and personalities continue to be recognised as the best in the industry,” said Nada Wotshela, group executive of SABC radio.
“This is affirmation for the good work that our management at stations’ level, content producers, presenters and everyone involved with the production value chain, delivers on a daily basis.
“I would like to congratulate each and every show and employee nominated this year and encourage everyone to continue doing their best in discharging our public service mandate.”
