– trending news updates, world news, local news and all about nations, states and governments.

The Federal Government will hold this Sunday (18), the Unified National Public Competition (CNU), nicknamed “ENEM of competitions”. The tests, initially scheduled for May 5, were rescheduled for tomorrow due to the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. With more than 2 million applicants, the contest will be the largest ever held in the country and will have a strong security scheme, including real-time monitoring by intelligence centers and strict measures to guarantee the authenticity of the candidates.

Record number of registrants and postponement

This year's CNU has already set a new record for public examinations in Brazil. More than 2 million people have registered and will compete for more than 6,000 positions in 21 federal agencies, with applications throughout the country. This is the first time that the public examination has been applied using this unified model.

The CNU, initially scheduled for May 5, was postponed until August due to the climate disaster that hit the South of the country that month. The competition was considered to be held in July, since the tests for some locations had already been distributed, but authorities identified possible vulnerabilities in the original security scheme, which led to a new postponement to ensure the security of the process.

Security Logistics

A full-fledged task force has been formed to ensure the integrity of the competition. The Ministry of Justice and the National Secretariat of Public Security will be coordinating the actions, which will involve agents from the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin), the National Public Security Force (FNSP), the Federal Police (PF) and the Federal Highway Police (PRF). Approximately 210,000 agents will be involved, including test administrators, test inspectors, managers and a network of employees from security agencies, such as federal agents and state agencies, such as the Civil Police, Military Police, Fire Department and Civil Defense. The total number of agents involved is equivalent to 10% of the number of applicants. The presence of so many agents was justified by Alexandre Retamal, general coordinator of logistics at the CNU, who said: “Our goal is to prevent anything that could lead to the cancellation of the contest. We know that a situation of fraud is serious.”

To monitor the tests throughout Brazil, a “situation room” was created at Dataprev's headquarters in Brasília, which will connect to the National Command and Control Center (CNCC) and the 27 Integrated Command and Control Centers in the 27 federal entities. Alexandre Retamal added: “We have a real-time view of what is happening” and continued speaking “The intelligence area that will act to prevent fraud and crime that could harm candidates”said the CNU coordinator. The command centers were initially created to monitor major international events, such as the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Rio Olympics. The structure created will serve to cross-reference data, ensuring that the event runs smoothly.
