Unlike other teams, the Nuggets did not celebrate as much as they should have for a spot in the Western Conference Finals. The team beat the Suns without much difficulty and was close to winning an important title for the 2022/23 season. However, Michael Malone doesn’t want ‘just’ that. The focus of the coach and his entire team is on winning the unprecedented NBA title.
Even so, Malone refused the champagnes after the match against the Suns and showed total focus on the western conference decision. Even with the Lakers and Warriors on their way, the Nuggets coach did not hide that his thoughts are on what comes after the regional final. In this way, the Denver team avoided celebrating and made a point of showing that it is not satisfied and that it wants more.
“We were not satisfied with winning the first round. We are not satisfied now. We’re not celebrating and popping champagne and splashing water on each other because our goal wasn’t to make the Western Conference Finals. I keep saying our goal is to win a championship, so we have a lot more work to do.”he said during the press conference.

It’s not the finals, but I’m just talking about the teams we lost to. So we have a good opportunity to do something,” he said during a press conference.
