Draw puts Brazil in the same group as Spain, current champions of the Basketball World Cup

This Saturday morning (29), in Manila, Philippines, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) drew the groups for the 2023 Basketball World Cup, which will take place in three venues: Manila (Philippines); Okinawa (Japan); and Jakarta (Indonesia). The competition runs from August 25th to September 10th. The Brazilian team is in group G, which includes current champions Spain, Iran and Ivory Coast.
In the first phase, Brazil already faces the Spanish team, which won the last edition, in 2019. For the second phase, the Brazilians face the selections of group H, which has the third place in the last World Cup, France, besides having Canada, Latvia and Lebanon.
The Brazilian team has already won two editions of the World Cup, the last time in 1963, in addition to winning in 1959. It is the only team to participate in all editions of the Cup, 18 in total. In group G, Spain, is also two-time world champion, in the 2006 and 2019 editions, in addition to leading the world ranking, Iran occupies the 22nd position, Ivory Coast is the 42nd. Brazil, on the other hand, ranks 13th.

The other teams that are in the competition as representatives of the Americas are: United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Dominican Republic.
