Two sources confirmed to IGN that the ESA announced the cancellation via an email sent to its members today. According to the website, the email says that while E3 “remains a beloved event and brand”, the 2023 edition “simply did not attract the necessary interest to be executed in a way that showed the size, strength and impact of our industry”.
This year’s E3 would be the first for organizer ReedPop, responsible for PAX and EGX.
The event had been losing steam since Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony all confirmed that they would not be attending. After them, it was the turn of Ubisoft, Sega and Tencent to also inform that they would not be at E3 2023.
