Flamengo and Fluminense reach an agreement to maintain the Maracanã concession
This Tuesday (25), the presidents of Flamengo and Fluminense reached a new agreement for a new Maracanã concession, between the two parties. This is the seventh time in a row that the two clubs have reached an agreement between them and the state government.
According to the contract, the concessionaire would be Clube de Regatas Flamengo, while Fluminense Football Club would enter into the agreement as an intervening consenting party. According to what was signed, the clubs would manage the stadium for another 180 days.
The Official Gazette confirms the agreement this Wednesday.

At this time, the agreement is still in the middle of signing the TPU (Term of Permission to Use)
The Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama, has already positioned itself against the concession being destined to the Fla-Flu duo, and went to court to fight for the case. The request of the Cruz-Maltino club was for there to be a public call to determine the management of Maracanã.
Flamengo, Fluminense and the State Government itself, appealed to Vasco’s request, with the aim of guaranteeing the renewal of the management of the Stadium.
If the result of Vasco’s request is positive, everything indicates that the process would be paralyzed and the concession would return to the hands of the State.
This fight will not stop here. What Vasco really wants is to get full management of Maracanã, definitively. Vasco claims that it has the best proposal for managing the stadium on a temporary basis, ensuring that it is more profitable for the State Government, in addition to stating that it has a partnership with Legends, which is a world-renowned company that manages the large world arenas such as the Santiago Bernabeu and the Etihad Stadium.
If it fails to reverse the TPU, Vasco will have to wait for the bidding process that has been suspended since October, when the State Court of Auditors (TCE) revealed 14 irregularities.
According to the Civil House, this bidding process for the concession of the stadium will be resumed within 40 days.
