Jean Lucas must remain in Europe – Several Brazilian clubs are looking to reinforce their respective squads for the Brazilian Championship, with Palmeiras and Santos it is no different: the clubs from São Paulo even looked at Jean Lucas as a new reinforcement. The idea seemed interesting until the arrival of Sporting Clube de Portugal as a new interested in having the Brazilian athlete’s football.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, the 24-year-old midfielder began his professional career at Flamengo (in addition to having played for Nova Iguaçu and Bonsucesso still in the lower categories). Having been loaned to Santos in 2019, Jean had great prominence and was permanently traded to Lyon in the same year, where without much prominence he ended up loaned to Brest after two seasons at the traditional French club.

However, the best was yet to come in Jean Lucas’ career: having regained good football, the Brazilian was sold to Monaco in 2021 and in the current season he has already entered the field in ten opportunities. With the good appearances in the red and white club, the interest of the Brazilian clubs Palmeiras and Santos gained competition from Sporting, which thinks of Jean to reinforce the “leonine” squad to continue seeking the classification towards the next UEFA Champions League (currently the club is 4th in the local league, outside the qualifying zone for the main European club tournament).

With the interest of two giants of Brazilian football and that of Portugal in 2023, Monaco would have already defined the necessary amount for sale: the French agree to sell Jean Lucas for 9 million euros (50 million reais in the current conversion). The current coach of Sporting, Rúben Amorim, would have asked for the signing of the Brazilian athlete, making the “Champions League factor” a factor that could weigh in favor of his club in this difficult and costly negotiation.
