Levi's relaunches the first jeans created in history

In 1873, in the 19th century, the first jeans in history were launched by the Levi's brand. The 9 Rivet 501 model, which turned 151 years old, was re-released by the brand on a limited basis to celebrate the milestone.

The American brand, born in 1853, patented the model that became one of the most commonly found pieces in closets on the western continents, created just 20 years after the brand was born.

Tribute to the brand's legacy

In honor of the brand's history, the 1873 jeans were relaunched this year in 800 pieces, which will only be available in specific stores and on the brand's website.

The brand, which remains one of the most important in the fashion sector, has preserved one of the pioneering pieces of the 501 model, which was kept in a safe. “The reproduction was made with precision and attention to detail, so it remains faithful to the original piece, capturing the peculiarities and unique characteristics”.

The new pants

The pants, which have pockets and rivets, are different from the relaunched model, which has singularities such as the nine rivets that adorn its structure, a distinctive feature that differentiates it from the 19th century model that features eleven rivets. This discrepancy not only causes a unique aesthetic, but also resonates with the tradition and history behind the design.

After 17 years since its initial creation, the patent on the 501 primary has finally expired, thus opening the floodgates to a wide range of possibilities in the world of denim. This milestone not only represented the end of an era in which Levi's had exclusivity over the production of jeans, but also triggered a revolution in the fashion industry, other companies were encouraged to explore and innovate in the field of clothing, creating their own own versions and interpretations of the classic 501.
