Luan reveals a desire to play again and causes controversy with statements about Luxembourg

The player Luan Guilherme it was on the former player’s podcast Denilson and, during the interview, he expressed his interest in playing again. He revealed a conversation he had with the coach of Corinthians, Vanderlei Luxemburgo: “When Vanderlei arrived, I went to exchange ideas with him. The only thing I ask is for you to send me to train with the group and give me the opportunity… the situation here is killing me, just let me train with the guys and you’ll see. If you want to use it, that’s up to you… that’s what I said. For me to say this to him, it’s because I’m 100% prepared and with an absurd desire to play. And I am prepared physically and psychologically.” Luan during an interview on the podcast.

The coach gave a post-match interview, where Corinthians was beaten at home by the Bragantino, and was asked about Luan’s lines on the podcast. Luxemburgo says that he talked to Luan and that the player’s situation started before he arrived at the team, and for that reason, he will not fight for the player.

Vanderlei also makes it clear that it is not the fans’ desire for Luan to return, and showed revolt with the player’s lines on the podcast: “Ask the Corinthians fans if they want the player in the game. It’s not up to me to answer… on a podcast you say whatever you want, but you have to ask a bigger question than that.”said Vanderlei at the post-game press conference.

Luan does not have a good reputation among the alvinegra fans and is seen as a “weight”. The player arrived at Corinthians in early 2020, and in his debut, the team won 2-1 over New York City, in Orlando (USA), for the Florida Cup. Corinthians’ two goals were scored by Luan, who brought great expectations to the Corinthians fans. 3 years later, the scenario is totally different. The player has been without scoring goals for Corinthians for 2 years.
