Russian city of Belgorod bombed near Ukrainian border

Tensions between Russians and Ukrainians remain firm on the European continent and the situation has been getting worse: a serious attack was recorded in the city of Belgorod, close to the border with Ukraine.

According to the region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, the invasion of territory belonging to Russia was by a “sabotage and reconnaissance group” coming from Ukrainian soil. According to news from the ruler, the bombing started at 09:00 (local time) and villages such as Antonovka, Kozinka and Gora-Podol were hit by artifacts.

As much as the governor of the Russian territory has claimed that the group of citizens who crossed the borders (and also attacked the Russian city of Grayvoron) were indeed part of the defense and security of Ukraine, the government of Kiev claims that they were actually citizens of nationality Russian. In an interview with the news channel Andriy Yusov, who is a representative of the Ukrainian defense intelligence agency, commented on what happened, noting that the attack was carried out by Russians and not by Ukrainians:

“We can confirm that this operation was carried out by Russian nationals. These actions are the consequences of intense Russian cross-border attacks, which have led to casualties and destruction.”

With the constant increase in tensions between Russia and Ukraine, the ruler of the attacked region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, stressed that efforts will be made to guarantee the safety of the local population:

“A sabotage and reconnaissance group, the Ministry of Defense and all law enforcement agencies entered the territory to carry out combat missions to protect our country.”

Due to what happened, a large part of the local population had to leave the territory. Therefore, the government has made itself available to provide transport that will be used to help those who do not have their own means of travel. With that, Gennady Ivanovich Bondarev (Minister of Emergency Situations) has been acting in partnership with the local police to evacuate people.

So far eight people have been injured in the attack according to the latest information.
