Teaser hints that next Mortal Kombat will be a reboot

NetherRealm Studios shared a teaser for the next game in the Mortal Kombat franchise on Wednesday, which hints that it will be a reboot.

In the teaser, we can see the message “it’s almost time” and a clock. When the pointer is about to pass the number 12, it skips it and goes straight to 1, hinting that the franchise and its universe will be rebooted.

The final events of Mortal Kombat 11 really make room for this to be possible, and the teaser reinforces this hypothesis.

If true, the new game in the series will not be called Mortal Kombat 12 and will likely just adopt the name Mortal Kombat.
