Arturo Vidal debuts with victory and shoots at former coach in controversial interview

After the board of Club Athletico Paranaense regularized Vidal on Friday (14), the player was available to interim coach Wesley Carvalho for the game against Bahia. At the age of 36, the Chilean midfielder made his debut 16 minutes into the second half, replacing Vitor Bueno. At the end of the match, Arturo Vidal spoke to the press after his team’s 2-0 victory in the Brasileirão. He was controversial when referring to Jorge Sampaoli, who was his coach in the Chilean national team from 2012 to 2016. Together, they won the 2015 Copa América and, recently, at Flamengo, they had possible friction that culminated in one of the reasons for the athlete’s departure . Apparently frustrated with what happened at his former club, the Chilean told TNT: “(…) I only had one coach, a loser who doesn’t know how to appreciate the players…” – he said.

However, Vidal claims that “Got behind” what happened and is excited for the continuation of his work. It is believed that the athlete will be an important player for Atheltico this season, which has the experienced Fernandinho in the same position and that they will be able to play together or even stay as an option, depending on the coach’s choice.
