Atlético-MG rehabilitates itself in Libertadores in the night of Igor Gomes

After two defeats, the Atlético-MG team reacted this Wednesday in Libertadores, beating Alianza Lima by 2-0, for the third round of Group G. Igor Gomes was responsible for scoring two goals. Galo was in control of the whole game, managed to create many opportunities, however, lacked a bit of whim to be able to execute a rout. Hulk scorer ended up wasting a penalty.

With the triumph, Atlético has the first three points in group G. The Alianza team has four points, the same score as the Athletico-PR team. The people from Paraná enter the field against Libertad, adding three points, in Paraguay. In the fourth round, Alvinegro will receive Athletico-PR, on 05/23.

Igor Gomes was not among the most renowned to decide the match. However, he shone beautifully to leave Atlético alive in the Libertadores. The midfielder scored his first two goals for Galo, after playing 19 matches. Igor had not scored since April 2022, when he was playing for São Paulo.

Pavón had his debut in the Libertadores with Atlético’s shirt. The Argentine player served six suspension matches that were imposed by Conmebol due to the confusion of Boca Junior players after the match against Alvinegro at Mineirão in 2021, when Pavón was defending the Buenos Aires team.

The Rooster will return to the field next Sunday. At 6:30 pm (Brasília time), the team will face Botafogo at the Nilton Santos stadium, for the fourth round of the Brazilian Championship. Soon after, Alvinegro has two more appointments for the national competition: Cuiabá, on the 10th (away from home) and Internacional, on the 13th (in Belo Horizonte).

In the first half, Atlético managed to maintain complete control of the territory, the creation of plays and possession of the ball. What wasn’t lacking was clear chances for the team to start opening the scoring. It was a good start for the team, with high rotation. Vargas got two. In the first one he finished, he finished a little badly. In the second, the defender ended up cutting on top of the line. Zeracho and Pavón also end up in danger. The Alianza Lima team ended up creating more difficulties in marking, however, even so, Alvinegro got opportunities. Jemerson also lamented another wasted chance.
